Two Poems From Two Vintage Granite Staters

Midwest to New England
By B.D. Adams

Give us a belly full of homemade ales ...
Give us your cheers and your hoorays!
Travel the Granite State to peep the beautiful boughs ...
Stay in Ohio to eat the Indian's maize.
The Midwest is sultry warm in the solstice.
A blanket of humid breath lingers on all sides.
Fresh water beaches invite dippers and sun worshipers
To stay in keeping with the Great Lake’s tides.
The New England is wicked fridge biting in the winter.
The vintage cars of the colorful paints
Must stay cozy away from the blue bluster!
Alas ... these conditions are the winter’s constraints!

For this global trotter, where I have sat
In my humble life, and where I sit now ...
New England has grabbed my heart and
Might be my place of rest, I vow!

However, it matters not the time or season ...
No matter where the traveler might roam ...
No matter what entices one to travel ...
     A smile attests to home!

Our Northern Neighbor
By Bill Ferullo  ©2001

The neighbor, who is right next door,
Can be a treasure, that’s for sure.
However, they can sometimes move away
Or we decide that we cannot stay.

Nations are a different take ...
Our neighborly ways we all must make.
The States have the very best
     From Canada, beyond the rest!

 Through centuries of changing ways,
     Our northern neighbor truly stays
So friendly, kind and always there.
     Canada ... our neighbor fair!
