Wedding Poem

After several years of co-inhabiting, my boyfriend and I decided to bite the bullet and marry, legally. We had a Garden Wedding in our backyard. In another Post, I'll show photos taken that day. The day was ideal until my old friend, Mother Nature, decided to remind me that she was still the boss of weather. She did allow for the ceremony and most of the reception to be rain-free. In any event, the event was sweet with many of our guests who braved the shower and enjoyed the food and drink.

The poem below is the toast I wrote to my husband. Cheers!!!!!

Vintage Love
by B.D. Adams

There once was a woman from Ohio,
who decided to go on the road.
Needed a change of scenery,
for any change she was so ready.
She needed a change in her being,
A new island for her waning energy.

So, the woman from Ohio soared freely
   to New Hampshire, quite happy.
Trees of beauty, trees that would sway
with blue skies, mountains and lakes.
Of artists and writers – on a very realistic stage.
Ahhh … the place for patient old age!

Then with no intention, she met at a life’s
corner, a fellow who was as blithe.
Her time became entwined with his;
both sought their idea of bliss,
They laughed, dined and learned that time
can go forward to joyful days, as in rhyme.

On this warm, balmy day, the couple had eyes
of passion, with some joyful tears to arise.
Today they went to their islands of change,
with hearts of truth, in the neared era of age.
To follow their oath, with the song of a dove,
To live happily in vintage love!

First, there were none,
Then there were two,
Now there is one ---
Both me and you.

Poetry

Adieu to Summer
by

The summer is beginning its early rest.
Not a super sizzle of a summer, but
Sweet, at best.
Warm air of fragrant lilac for me and you.

Still green crowns of trees, top their head
With the hint of dappling colors of gold and
The deep rusty red.
Colors to cascade, to give a clue.

For one more month we pray,
No comforters or heavy sheets.
The summer doesn’t want to wane,
To go,
To fade,
To blow away!
Oh, how we need the sky’s deep blue!

Summer so wishes to stay, but Nature knows
It is the turning time.
Winter winds will soon make swirling blows.
This is why we must kiss the summer adieu.

The World We Were

We came in masses far and near
and made a nation strong and dear
To get along was tested much
at times it seemed to lose God’s touch

Yet here we are from all the world
under one flag with pride unfurled
So many customs, so many ways
freedom here for all who stay

A word to all our people now
The rich heritage gets gray, somehow
To learn the nations of this Earth
will lift us, touch us, give us mirth

Lions

Lions

 by Bill Ferullo
© 2012

It really is of no surprise
That all the life before our eyes
Should earn the traits we notice there
A dumb old ox, a quick, white hare

So it is the word has passed
Described the leader we would keep
is an army of sheep led by a lion
not an army of lions led by a sheep.
